My name is Darien Strickler and I am an aspiring architect with an ambitious track ahead of me.
As a kid, I moved around with my immediate family quite often. During this time, I did my best to make as many real connections as I could and scrambled to find a passion that I felt could make a real difference in people’s lives. I finally found that in architecture in my junior year of high school when my family moved to San Francisco Bay Area, California. From there, I began pursuing the profession of an architect leading me to receive a Bachelor of Science in Architecture with a Certificate in Sustainable Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. Eager to get out into the field, I decided to go right into the next chapter and am currently working towards my Master’s Degree in Cornell’s M.Arch program.
I have always had the mindset of an entrepreneur with the creative mind of an architect. For many years, I wrestled with whether to be a practicing architect or to create my own startup. My interest in design was always prominent. I look at buildings and think about how they could have been designed better. When there is no building, I question what could go there with a consideration if something should go there at all. When it comes to the entrepreneurial side of myself, there is no shortage of material there either. I’ve come up with many ideas whether it be with a team or by myself mainly centered around public safety and assisting first responders. The question of which to do always pondered in my head until I finally asked myself “why not do both?” From then on, I had my desired pathway outlined and I continued to walk along that road balancing architectural studies with entrepreneurial experience.
Strictly Designs is my attempt to finally bring both sides of my professional aspirations together. I look forward to every day that will lead to my vision becoming a reality and I thank you for being a part of it!
